Mud Hens Top Clippers in Extras, 5-4
|
Columbus right fielder Victor Zavala was sensational. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toledo beat the Clippers, 5-4. Toledo pitcher Federico Rodriguez got the win, upping his record to 8-1. Joe Rutter got the loss. The win gives Toledo a season record of 70-61.
Javier Flores, the 32-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Flores contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Toledo up, 5-4.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Toledo manager Mike Sizemore.
