Syracuse pitcher Erik McFadden did his part in helping his team defeat the Rochester Red Wings, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. The first-place Chiefs go to 76-55.

Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Enrique Alamilla to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Erik's focus was outstanding. The way he handled every moment -- when there was a little trouble, he didn't lose his tempo or his rhythm," said Syracuse manager Mark Holgate.
