Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Chiefs
Syracuse Chiefs pitcher Vic Torres was in fine form, leading his team past the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 3-1. Syracuse reliever Steve Jordan picked up the win, raising his record to 9-9. Roberto Arevalo was tagged with the loss. At 72-60, the Chiefs find themselves in third place in the North Division.

Syracuse needed the clutch hitting of Pat Esker to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 3-1. For the game, Esker had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
