Jay Jacobson pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Norfolk Tides, despite Jacobson's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Charlotte Knights at BB&T Stadium. Roberto Aguilar got the win, improving to 16-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. The Knights improved to 88-50.

The Knights got a big at-bat from second baseman Alberto Hernandez. For the game, Hernandez went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Charlotte a 3-2 lead.

"We'll savor this win," Hernandez told the Charlotte News, "then get ready for the next game."
