Chiefs designated hitter Manny Alas left his imprint on his team's 10-2 win over the Scranton WB RailRiders. Alas was 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for Syracuse in the contest. The North Division-leading Chiefs have a record of 75-64.

The RailRiders had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old third baseman Daniel Ortiz came to the plate. Ortiz hit a run-scoring double on a first pitch sinker from Scranton WB hurler Nate Merritt. It was Ortiz's 38th double of the year.

"They just got us," said Scranton WB manager Chris Carley, "and that's all I can say."
