Norfolk got a terrific game from left fielder Elijah Miller. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Charlotte, 5-4. Miller went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Corey Smith got the win, improving to 13-6. He held the Tides to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. The second-place Knights now sit at 70-70.

Charlotte used a well-timed hit by Joey Simpson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Knights ahead, 5-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Charlotte manager Nick Zlomke was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
