Norfolk Nerve Tested in 3-2 Win
The Norfolk Tides picked up a win at Harbor Park, downing the Charlotte Knights, 3-2. On the mound for Norfolk was right-hander Steve McAloon, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner in relief was Dave Newton. He is now 5-4. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. The loss makes Charlotte 70-71.

Norfolk got a clutch hit from Matt Bond. The right fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"Steve had good arm action, good stuff," said Norfolk manager Alfredo Rojas.
