Tides Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Starting pitcher Carlos Lucero gave the Norfolk Tides a rock-solid effort. The Higüey, Dominican Republic native helped his team defeat the Charlotte Knights, 3-2, at BB&T Stadium. Lucero got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win lifts Norfolk to a record of 14-9.
Norfolk used the timely hitting of Tony Marquez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tides on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Marquez told the Norfolk Gazette.
