The Charlotte Knights could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Chad Muha into a win. Instead, the Norfolk Tides prevailed, 3-2. Muha threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Eric Fox claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The South Division-leading Tides are 73-69.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 25-year old third baseman Fletcher McGilvery had a real shot to win the game. Charlotte pitcher Danny Torres was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, McGilvery hit a run-scoring single. The Tides had a walk-off triumph.

Afterward, Tides manager Alfredo Rojas was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
