The Charlotte Knights had to overcome a big game from Gwinnett first baseman Ryan Carrier to leave BB&T Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 6-5. Carrier went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2. Jordan Morales recorded his 8th save for Charlotte. The Knights lead the South Division by 12 games.

Mark Clardy was 1 for 3 with a walk for Charlotte. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the sixth, Clardy came through with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Knights in front, 6-5.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Charlotte manager Zach Strecker.
