Crosscutters Knock Off Spikes, 3-1
|
Fans of the Williamsport Crosscutters who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Williamsport win over the visiting State College Spikes, 3-1. Mike Sweigart started for the home team against Adam Weale. Mike Sweigart earned accolades for his performance. Earning his 1st save for Williamsport was Billy Kamp.
Jim Unknown dealt the Spikes a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Williamsport leading 1-0, Unknown hit a 2-1 changeup for a 2-run single.
"Mike was able to execute his pitches," said Williamsport manager Will Walsh. "Simple as that."
