Williamsport Gets 1-0 Win
|
Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was the site of the home opener for the State College Spikes. The contest featured a prime matchup between Onne Ubels of the visiting Williamsport Crosscutters and Art Cathcart of the Spikes. The final score was 1-0, the Crosscutters getting the win. Art Cathcart turned in the best performance. Chris Pasquini earned the save, his 1st.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when designated hitter Greg Yakel hit a triple. The Crosscutters went on to win.
"Some games build character," said Williamsport manager B.J. Olenchuk. "Like this one."
