The Akron RubberDucks dealt the Erie SeaWolves a 6-3 loss at Canal Park. Ben Roller, who is tied for 3rd in the EL in home runs with 9, was the star on offense. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jay Pritchett got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the SeaWolves to 3 runs on 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The RubberDucks raised their record to 25-31.
With Akron trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Roller hit a curveball from Seth Thornton for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the RubberDucks ahead, 3-2.
Akron manager Juan Nunez praised his team's "businesslike approach."
