Akron Stymied by Altoona, 2-1

The Curve faced a stiff challenge from Akron pitcher Mike Overholser, but persevered to claim a win at People's Natural Gas Field. The final score was 2-1. Overholser went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Nate Lloyd got the win, improving to 6-1. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Todd Freeman closed out the game, earning his 12th save.
The Curve got a big at-bat from first baseman Greg Ambriz. For the game, Ambriz was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 11th double of the season gave Altoona a 2-0 lead.
"Watch and learn," said Ambriz. "This is what good pitching looks like."
With the win, Altoona pushed its record to 36-22.
