RubberDucks Dispatch SeaWolves, 11-3
|
The Akron RubberDucks grabbed a win, 11-3, over the Erie SeaWolves at Canal Park. Akron right fielder Mike Mordaunt went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Billy Harp recorded the save, his 4th. The loss makes Erie 53-66.
Nick Schmidt had a big 2-run home run for the RubberDucks in the bottom of the second inning. With Akron leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a splitter from Seth Thornton, who is tied for 2nd in the EL with a 9.5 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the RubberDucks on top, 3-0.
"I felt good up there," said Schmidt. "I saw the ball well."
