Fans watched the Binghamton Mets and the Trenton Thunder fight to the finish.

The Binghamton Mets did just enough to secure a victory over the Trenton Thunder, 5-4, at Arm & Hammer Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Bob Chartier. Chartier got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 11 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. Chartier allowed 4 runs.

Tom Garrison, the 28-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Garrison contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Binghamton up, 5-4.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Garrison told the Binghamton Daily News.

At 42-21, the Mets claim first place in the Northern Division.
