Mets Top RubberDucks, 7-6
|
The Binghamton Mets beat the Akron RubberDucks, 7-6, in 11 innings. Binghamton right fielder Paul Barner, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Oscar de Castro notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. With the win, Binghamton raised its record to 32-32.
Barner had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 2-2 changeup from Karl Seaton, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Mets a 7-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Barner.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Barner.
