With 7-5 Win, Baysox Improve to 40-24
|
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Alberto Castaneda, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats lost to the Bowie Baysox, 7-5. Castaneda went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Jorge Cortez picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-5 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 1 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 4 runs. Bowie sits in second place in the Southern Division at 40-24.
Willie Villafuerte had a big 2-run triple for the Baysox in the bottom of the first inning. With Bowie leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jason Norris and swatted a triple to left. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Baysox ahead, 3-0.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Villafuerte.
