The Binghamton Mets withstood an impressive performance by Akron right fielder Evan Haley to defeat the RubberDucks, 6-5, at Canal Park. Haley was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Binghamton reliever Nick Ortega was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Matt Lyons. With the win, the Mets have a record of 33-32.

Binghamton used a clutch hit from Políbio Bem to get the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mets ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I had a good game," said Bem. "Winning makes it even better."
