The Reading Fightin Phils had their hands full with Altoona Curve starter August Kirchmann, who frustrated Reading hitters while leading Altoona to a comfortable, 7-1 win. The Curve go to 41-25, putting them first in the Southern Division.

Kevin Kinkade, who leads the EL in home runs with 15, contributed to the Altoona win with a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.

"August was really attacking guys' weaknesses and he didn't leave a lot of balls over the plate," said Altoona field general Gerardo Zarco.
