Mets Win Nail-Biter
|
The Binghamton Mets faced a tenacious opponent in Akron pitcher Hugo Quevedo, but still scratched out a win at Canal Park by a final score of 6-5 in 11 innings. Quevedo went 0 innings and allowed no runs. Alberto Chavez, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-4. He allowed 1 run on no hits in 3 innings. Brandon Chopp earned save number 1 this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Binghamton, had it not been for Roy Renner, the 23-year old second baseman . Renner contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Binghamton up, 4-3.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Renner.
The third-place Mets bumped their record to 32-35.
