Reading got a big-time effort from pitcher Mason Fowler, but it wasn't enough to keep the Trenton Thunder from winning the game, 5-4. Fowler threw 7.1 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. Phil Martel earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 3-7. Today's win puts Trenton at 21-46, while Reading falls to 30-37.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman John Bowsman came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Reading pitcher Guillermo Guzman, he hit a 1-2 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Trenton on top, 5-4.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Pat Gilman, the Trenton manager.
