Both teams had their chances, but the Binghamton Mets eventually prevailed.

In a close game at NYSEG Stadium, the Binghamton Mets edged the Bowie Baysox, 5-4. Binghamton catcher Chris Pongratz stood apart with his performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jon Williams notched his 9th save of the season.

Pongratz had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch sinker from Justin Ramsey, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Mets a 5-4 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Pongratz.

"We played hard and won," said Pongratz. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

At 32-35, the Mets find themselves in second place in the Northern Division.
