Jerry Uht Park was the site of the home opener for the Erie SeaWolves. The contest featured a prime matchup between Seth Schubert of the visiting Akron RubberDucks and Darryl Shirey of the SeaWolves. The final score was 8-5, the RubberDucks getting the win. Eric Carroll turned in the best performance. Seth Schubert got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3.

With Akron leading 4-1 in the top of the fourth, Carroll hit a fastball from Darryl Shirey for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the RubberDucks ahead, 6-1.

"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Carroll.
