Mets Drop Fightin Phils, 3-1
|
The Binghamton Mets racked up a win at FirstEnergy Stadium, bumping off the Reading Fightin Phils, 3-1. Seth Jones, who started for Binghamton, pitched effectively for his team. In 6.2 innings, Jones surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Andy DeRosa collected his 1st save.
The Mets got a big at-bat from first baseman Ron Tilmann. For the game, Tilmann went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 13th double of the season gave Binghamton a 2-0 lead.
Afterward, Mets manager Brian Lees was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Binghamton is now 48-26, while Reading is 25-49.
