Clements, RubberDucks Shut Out Senators, 5-0
|
In an outstanding mound performance, Akron RubberDucks starter Everett Clements fired a complete-game shutout against the Harrisburg Senators at FNB Field today.
Clements was the key to the RubberDucks's 5-0 win. The 29-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 2 hits and 1 walk he allowed.
"2 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
This season Clements has crafted a 5-4 mark with a 3.53 ERA in 71.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .253 against him and he has 62 strikeouts.
