Fisher Cats Deal Binghamton 5-4 Defeat
|
The Binghamton Mets got a superb performance from pitcher Ricardo Neri, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats still won the game, 5-4. Neri threw 7.1 innings allowing 5 runs. Earning the save was Preston Holub. He's now cashed in 11 of 12 save opportunities. New Hampshire is now 37-39, while Binghamton is 35-42.
The outcome might have been different for New Hampshire, had it not been for Wietze Willemsen, the 24-year old first baseman . Willemsen stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put New Hampshire up, 5-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
Willemsen called the triumph "a good team win."
