Charlotte left fielder Chris Pitts played a vital role in his team's 5-4 conquest of Durham. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Charlotte. Charlotte reliever Mike Walter got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Eric Keetch was tagged with the loss. The win lifts Charlotte to a record of 13-14.

With Charlotte trailing 4-1 in the top of the third, Pitts hit a sinker from Eric Keetch for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Knights ahead, 5-4.
