Richmond starter Bill Laird pitched well against the Trenton Thunder at Arm & Hammer Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Laird got the win, improving to 10-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Ivan Sandoval closed the door for Richmond, picking up his 12th save of the year.

Hector Rivera had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Richmond. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Richmond in front, 3-1.

"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Flying Squirrels manager Fernando Melendez. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
