Fightin Phils Zap Thunder, 5-2

The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Trenton Thunder, 5-2, in Eastern League action at FirstEnergy Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Reading pitcher Danny Coyle. Coyle got the win, improving to 9-7. He allowed 3 hits and walked 4 over 7.1 innings. Coyle allowed 1 run. Jeremy Duffy, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Fightin Phils had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Carlos Medina hit a 2-run single. The single came off Aaron LaBonte and made the score 5-0, Fightin Phils. Medina went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"I felt good up there," said Medina. "I saw the ball well."
After today's action, Reading sits at 48-40, while Trenton falls to 35-53.
