Victors Again, Richmond Win Streak at 8
|
The umbrellas came out during the Richmond-Trenton contest at Arm & Hammer Park.
Richmond starter Dave Bigby put the Trenton offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Flying Squirrels to a 3-1 win. Ivan Sandoval closed the game out for Richmond, earning his 13th save.
Richmond won the game in part because of Willie Verduzco. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 2-0. For the game, Verduzco had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I like the roll we're on right now," said Verduzco after the game.
Richmond now owns a record of 45-43.
