Yard Goats Raise Rally Flag, Beat Richmond, 2-1
|
Mike Wood was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Hartford and Richmond. The Yard Goats right-hander helped his team beat the Flying Squirrels, 2-1. Matt Grimes snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 2-5 on the season. With the win, Hartford has a record of 57-36. Richmond falls to 57-36.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Hartford right fielder Matt Fahey, facing Micah Minto, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Yard Goats the 2-1 win.
"This wasn't a good win," said Fahey. "It was a great win."
