The Trenton Thunder got a magnificent effort from pitcher Victor Varela, who kept Altoona hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Thunder win at Arm & Hammer Park. Varela got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. The 'W' lifts Trenton's record to 45-49.

Joe Burks helped out the Trenton cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder was 2-4 with 2 singles.
