The Akron RubberDucks racked up a win at The Diamond, bumping off the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-3. Roberto Pluma, who started for Akron, pitched effectively for his team. Pluma got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 9 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Akron is now 52-41.

Akron used the timely hitting of Alex Casco to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Akron manager Ted Allen called it "a darn good win."
