Fisher Cats Win Again, 6-0, Extend Streak to 6
|
Eddie Martinez, who is tied for 5th in the EL in strikeouts with 103, propelled his team to victory over the Reading Fightin Phils. The final score was 6-0, New Hampshire. Martinez, now 7-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The Fisher Cats now have a record of 49-48.
New Hampshire used a well-timed hit by Joe Ray to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Fisher Cats ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Ray.
