The Akron RubberDucks withstood a fine game by Altoona shortstop Mike Kaloustian at People's Natural Gas Field, to upend the Curve, 4-3. Kaloustian hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The save went to Peter Killion, his 2nd this season. Akron is last in the Southern Division with a record of 31-65.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Cory Pockrandt? The Akron center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 2-0. For the game, Pockrandt had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Akron manager Brian Zimmerman was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
