The Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the Binghamton Mets, 7-2, at NYSEG Stadium. Richmond third baseman Lee Carter, who is tied for 9th in the EL with a .353 on-base percentage, collected 3 singles and 1 double with 1 RBI. Jorge Ochoa, who is tied for 5th in the EL with a 2.24 ERA, was the winning pitcher. Over 8.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. The win puts the Flying Squirrels at 73-27, while the Mets drop to 36-64.
Richmond used a clutch at-bat from Juan Navarro to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 6-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
