Reading got a decent performance from pitcher Danny Coyle, but it wasn't enough to beat the Altoona Curve. Altoona won the FirstEnergy Stadium contest, 5-4. Coyle threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Bobby Delgado nailed down his 9th save. The last-place Curve improved to 36-62.

Altoona used a clutch hit from Julio Rodriguez to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Curve ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Altoona skipper Edgar Romero. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
