Fightin Phils Snag 6-4 Win
|
The Bowie Baysox got a sterling performance from pitcher Donte Reed, but the Reading Fightin Phils still prevailed, 6-4. Reed threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Allen Gilmore closed the game out for Reading, earning his 2nd save. Reading is now 44-57.
Reading used a timely hit from Rogelio Montejano to get the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fightin Phils ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Montejano told the Reading Bulletin.
