Richmond Wins, 6-5, Over Yard Goats
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels downed the Hartford Yard Goats, 6-5, at The Diamond. The Flying Squirrels were led by Cody Hindmon. Hindmon was 1 for 3 with 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Richmond reliever Ivan Sandoval snagged the win, upping his record to 2-9. Bras Canavarro shouldered the loss. The Flying Squirrels, at 52-49, sit in second place in the Northern Division.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Richmond trailing 5-4, Hindmon hit a fastball from Bras Canavarro for a 2-run single. In the blink of an eye, the Flying Squirrels had a walk-off win.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Hindmon.
