Baysox Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
The Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Bowie Baysox, 3-2, in Eastern League action at Hadlock Field. Portland pitcher Adam Spiller had a standout performance. Spiller, now 8-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Justin Ammons notched his 5th save in 6 chances.
Victor Cisneros drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Portland. The 28-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Matt Flaherty. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
In comments to the Portland Times, Spiller admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
Portland now sits at 57-48, while Bowie falls to 39-65.
