Fisher Cats Jolt Mets, 3-2, with Late Rally
|
A 3-RBI performance from designated hitter Wietze Willemsen, who is tied for 6th in the EL in home runs with 14, led the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a win over the Binghamton Mets, 3-2. Jose Fernandez got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The third-place Fisher Cats lifted their record to 51-53.
Willemsen had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Alberto Chavez, he banged a run-scoring double to right-center, giving the Fisher Cats a 3-2 lead. It was the 19th double of the year for Willemsen.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Fisher Cats manager Quinn Autrey.
