Starting pitcher Hideo Kashiwagi was a major factor in the 6-2 Hartford Yard Goats triumph over the Altoona Curve. The win puts Hartford at 64-41 this season.

The Curve had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Yard Goats going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old first baseman Jose Gomez came to the plate. Gomez hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 curveball from Altoona hurler Eli Sheffield. It was Gomez's 1st double of the year.

Gomez attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
