With designated hitter Paul Spitz leading the charge, the Trenton Thunder defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 10-6, at Arm & Hammer Park. Spitz went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Casey Allard earned the win to go to 3-10. He allowed 6 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. The last-place Thunder now sit at 46-64.

The Sea Dogs had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Thunder going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Jimmy Dillard came to the plate. Dillard hit a 3-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Portland hurler John Harris. It was Dillard's 8th home run of the year.

Dillard told the Trenton Bulletin: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
