Akron got a big-time effort from pitcher Brian Fuller, but it wasn't enough to keep the New Hampshire Fisher Cats from winning the game, 2-1. Fuller threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was New Hampshire reliever Manuel Cerna, now 5-0. The loser was Brian Fuller. Chris Nieves collected his 25th save.

Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Josh Sherman's at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth was crucial. The New Hampshire designated hitter hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.

"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Sherman. "Mission accomplished."

With the win, New Hampshire upped its record to 71-40.
