The Trenton Thunder could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Josh Smith into a win. Instead, the Akron RubberDucks prevailed, 3-2, in 10 innings. Smith threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Akron.

Akron used the timely hitting of Juan Torres to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Juan Nunez, the Akron skipper.
