8-4 Loss Extends Richmond Skid
Portland registered a win at The Diamond by beating the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 8-4. Pitcher Alberto Murguia was one reason why the Sea Dogs triumphed. Murguia picked up the win for Portland, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-13. Richmond is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 10 in a row.

Portland used a clutch at-bat from Mike Thomas to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Afterward, Richmond manager Fernando Melendez said: "Every team has a bad week."
