The Erie SeaWolves were almost helpless in their 6-0 loss to the Richmond Flying Squirrels and hurler Ethan Sanders. Sanders kept the SeaWolves confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Sanders," Erie manager Frank Hennessy said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 24-year-old left-hander had no walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Sanders said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

So far this season, Sanders has a 4-2 record, 7 starts, 50 innings, 46 strikeouts and a 2.70 ERA.
