Curve Stun Flying Squirrels, 5-3

Altoona Curve starter Ricky Marquez found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The win went to Aaron Gunia in relief, making him now 6-4. Yohsuke Otake took the loss for Richmond. Jason Bingham, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
The Flying Squirrels had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Curve going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Noah Gelderman came to the plate. Gelderman hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Richmond hurler Alejandro Reyes. It was Gelderman's 21st double of the year.
"Ricky went out and got the job done," said Curve manager Gerardo Zarco.
The Curve improved their record to 67-50 with the win over Richmond.
