With Jimmy Dillard leading the charge, the Trenton Thunder defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 7-4. Dillard went 1-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Thunder. The winning pitcher was 19-year old left-handed pitcher Josh Smith. He tossed 97 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. With the win, Trenton goes to 51-66, while the RubberDucks fall to 50-67.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Dillard hit a grand slam home run off Sam Selby. It propelled the Thunder into the lead, 6-2.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Dillard told the Trenton Bulletin. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
