Fightin Phils Snag 3-1 Win
|
The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 3-1, in Eastern League action at FirstEnergy Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Reading pitcher and Rochester Hills, Michigan, native David Hayes. Reading's record now stands at 61-56, placing them third in the Southern Division.
Reading took a 3-1 lead on Matt Grondin's 19th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Richmond pitcher Charlie Fleet in the bottom of the eighth.
"Credit where credit is due," said Hayes, "this was a team win."
