Akron pitcher Ryan Richardson had a large part in his team subduing the Portland Sea Dogs, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Jeremy Zerr closed out the game, earning his 2nd save. The third-place RubberDucks bumped their record to 68-51.

Mike Tamburello had a big hit for Akron in the top of the third inning. With Akron leading 1-0, Tamburello hit a run-scoring double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the RubberDucks up, 2-0.

Richardson said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
