Fisher Cats Win Squeaker, 2-1, Over Baysox
|
Prince George's Stadium was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats had to overcome a good performance from Bowie pitcher Juan Jones to claim a 2-1 win at Prince George's Stadium. Jones went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Florent Loggia was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-3. The losing pitcher was Trevor Cecil.
New Hampshire used the timely hitting of Paul Sirois to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fisher Cats on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Sirois. "But we scored just enough to win."
The Fisher Cats now own a record of 58-63.
