Flying Squirrels Score 6-1 Win Against Akron
The Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Akron RubberDucks by the score of 6-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to catcher A.J. Lufkin. Lufkin belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Flying Squirrels on the day. The winning pitcher was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Young. He tossed 114 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits. The defeat makes Akron 62-58.

Caleb Franklin had a big 2-run double for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Richmond leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a screwball from Tyler Crumley and swatted a double to left. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 4-1.

Richmond manager Fernando Melendez attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
