The Hartford Yard Goats coasted to a win over the Akron RubberDucks, 10-0. Bobby Gardner had a good day at the plate for Hartford. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 4 runs. Brock Ott closed it out for his 1st save. The 'W' lifts Hartford's record to 81-44.

Layant Pierce had a big 3-run home run for the Yard Goats in the top of the fifth inning. With Hartford leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Tony Reyes and swatted a home run to left. It was his 18th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Yard Goats ahead, 5-0.

"Not much to say," Akron manager Michael Chiquito said, when asked afterward about the defeat.
