Rothove Powers Senators to 8-4 Win
|
The Harrisburg Senators defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 8-4, at FNB Field. Harrisburg was led by 25-year old second baseman Robby Rothove, who went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Francisco Valdez, the winner, is now 5-5. He struck out 9 and walked 1 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Ray Koval recorded his 18th save for Harrisburg.
Miguel Castillo took Akron hurler Miguel Vargas deep in the bottom of the third. His grand slam home run put the Senators on top, 4-0. In all, Castillo had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"We're one win closer to our goal," Rothove said in postgame remarks.
The second-place Senators improved to 70-56.
